Improvements To Headworks Plant 1 And 2 And Odor Control Systems At Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant

Stantec was retained by MDWASD to provide Design Services related to Consent Decree Projects at all three Wastewater Treatment Plants (Central, South and North District). METCO, as one of the subconsultants, is responsible for developing Design Report and Detailed Design Documents related to Electrical, I&C and HVAC system improvements in various process areas at these Wastewater Treatment Plants.

As part of the Master Contract for the Program, METCO was tasked to develop Preliminary Design Task Memorandum, Detailed Design Documents and Construction Assistance Services for major Electrical, and I&C improvements associated with the Headworks at Plant 1 and Plant 2, Air Scrubber  Control Systems  and step feed for Oxygenation Trains of Plant 2.

METCO was responsible to provide the above services for the following key project elements:

  • Replacement of Screens with four perforated plate fine screens for each plant including washer and compactor.
  • Relocation of existing grit chamber blowers and addition of a standby blower.
  • Hydraulic improvements at Plant 2 grit chambers.
  • Step feed for four oxygenation trains.
  • New Electrical buildings for Plant 1 and Plant 2 to replace and relocate grit building MCCs and scrubber building MCCs.
  • Replacement of all electrical equipment and lighting in the grit buildings and scrubber buildings Instruments, control, and monitoring of new facilities.

CDM Smith. was retained by MDWASD to provide Design Services for all improvements required Ocean Outfall Legislation (OOL) Program at all three Miami-Dade Wastewater Treatment Plants.  METCO, as one of the major subconsultants, is responsible to develop Design Report and Detailed Design Documents related to Electrical, I&C and HVAC system.

The new Injection Well Pump Station is intended to pump treated effluent through a pressurized conveyance system to seven new injection wells for final disposal. The proposed Pump Station is comprised of Eight (8) 900 HP Pumps, each rated for a capacity of 19 MGD.

Under this specific task Order , METCO was tasked to develop Preliminary design Task memorandum and detailed design documents for major Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing and Fire protection System upgrades associated with new Injection Well Pump Station and associated Electrical Substations at Central District WWTP of WASD.

METCO is responsible to perform the tasked services for the following elements of improvements under this project.

  • Determine NFPA 820 Hazardous area classification for the new Injection Well Pump Station.
  • Design complete electrical distribution system new Injection Well Pump Station including Substations, eight, 900 HP MV- VFD system for the new pumps, MCCs and all other related building electrical system such as LED lighting system, lightning protection system and fire alarm system etc.
  • Design of new Four (4) Substations to be located within the Injection Well Pump Station Building.
  • Design of complete HVAC system for the new Injection Well Pump Station and Electrical Building.
  • Design Fire Protection for various areas of new Injection Well Pump Station Building.

Stantec was retained by MDWASD to provide Design Services for all Consent Decree Projects at all three Wastewater Treatment Plants. METCO, as one of the major subconsultants, is responsible for developing Design Report and Detailed Design Documents related to Electrical, I&C and HVAC system improvements in various process areas at these Wastewater Treatment Plants. 

As part of the Master Contract for the Program, METCO was tasked to develop Preliminary Design Task Memorandum, Detailed Design Documents and Construction Assistance Services for major Electrical, and I&C improvements associated with the Primary Clarifiers at the North District Wastewater Treatment Plant.

METCO was responsible to provide the above services for the following key project elements:

  • Replace Electrical Power System to Primary Clarifiers No. 1-6 and associated Auxiliary System.
  • Replace MCC’s and Feeders to all connected loads in the Primary Sludge Pump Stations1 & 2.
  • Replace Lighting System in the Pump Station and in the Clarifiers.
  • HVAC and Plumbing System Upgrades at the Primary Sludge Pumping Station.

METCO, as one of the subconsultants, is responsible for developing Design Report and Detailed Design Documents related to Electrical, I&C and HVAC system improvements in various process areas at these Wastewater Treatment Plants. 

As part of the Master Contract for the Program, METCO was tasked to develop Preliminary Design Task Memorandum, Detailed Design Documents and Construction Assistance Services for the Secondary Clarifiers at the North District –Wastewater Treatment Plant (NDWWTP).

  • METCO was responsible to provide the above services for the following key project elements:
  • Replace Electrical Power System to Secondary Clarifiers No. 1-6 and associated Auxiliary System.
  • Replace MCC’s and Feeders to all connected loads in the Primary Sludge Pumping Systems 1 & 2.
  • Replace Lighting System in the Pump Station.
  • HVAC System Upgrades at the Primary Sludge Pumping Station.

Limited space constraints and WASD requirements to maintain minimum interruption to the Clarifier operations during the Construction Phase were some of the challenges METCO considered while developing design documents.

Stantec was retained by MDWASD to provide Design Services related to Consent Decree Projects at all three Wastewater Treatment Plants (Central, South and North District). METCO, as one of the subconsultants, is responsible for developing Design Report and Detailed Design Documents related to Electrical, I&C and HVAC system improvements in various process areas at these Wastewater Treatment Plants.

As part of the Master Contract for the Program, METCO was tasked to develop Preliminary Design Task Memorandum, Detailed Design Documents and Construction Assistance Services for major Electrical, and I&C improvements to replace the existing elemental gas Chlorination System at the Central District – Wastewater Treatment Plant (CDWWTP) with a liquid sodium hypochlorite storage and feed system.

METCO was responsible to provide the above services for the following key project elements:

  • New chlorination facilities consisting of chemical storage building, main process building with pumps and electrical building to house MCCs and RTUs.
  • Satellite facilities consisting of metering pumps and day tanks.
  • Electrical power and lighting for all new facilities and tank storage area.
  • Instrumentation and controls for all new equipment.
